TAKE A WALK IN THE BIG WOODS

This is just a reminder for the Big Woods Walk at Rider University this Friday afternoon at 3 pm at the tennis courts. More details and a campus map are linked off of this website: http://www.rider.edu/events/big-woods-walk/2017/04/21

There’s a chance of thunderstorms currently in the afternoon. If necessary, the event will move indoors to the auditorium in Sweigart Hall (rm 115).
Regardless of whether we’re indoors or outside, I have planned a program that will highlight the connections of this woods to Aldo Leopold with short presentations by Rider U. Faculty.
Big Woods Walk Program:
3:00 Congregate for walk at tennis courts (those arriving by car can park at the adjacent lot). Awarding of best Sustainability Studies Internship Paper sponsored by Springer-Nature donation.
3:05 Stop #1: Dan Druckenbrod and Dennis Waters (Lawrence Township Historian) provide overview on Leopold, his hand-drawn map, and the Johnson Trolley line.
3:15 Stop #2: Dan Druckenbrod discusses Leopold’s interest in skunk cabbage, which is present along the creek (Time permitting).
3:25 Stop #3: Mary Leck discusses how the forest has changed since it was first used for classes in the 1970s
